AKA’s Fiancee Dies in Tragic Accident

Kiernan Forbes, best known as AKA, is “inconsolable” following the death of his fiancee, Anele “Nelli” Tembe.

In an online statement released by the Tembe-Forbes families on Sunday, 11 April, the 22-year-old passed away early that morning while visiting Cape Town with the 33-year-old rapper.

The statement reads: “We are still in shock and are dealing with our emotions, as [Tembe] was an exceptional and gifted young woman, with so much life ahead of her … Her fiance, Kiernan Forbes, is currently inconsolable and is surrounded by family and closest friends.”

The families also asked for privacy at this time.

According to police reports, Tembe died from polytraumatic injuries after she allegedly jumped from the tenth or eleventh floor of the Pepperclub Hotel. Paramedics declared her deceased on the scene.

The night before, she and AKA – who proposed to her back in February and was rumoured to have paid lobola for her – were seen dining and partying at the Ayepyep nightclub.

The investigation into Tembe’s death continues.
